This induces for the patients a whole obstacle course for the reimbursement of their medical expenses.
They often go back and forth to their insurance because they are missing this or that supporting document and very often they have no way of tracking the reimbursement of their medical expenses.


And this means for insurance companies :

• A lot of time-consuming tasks (such as receiving the file, filing it, transcribing its information, scanning its documents, checking if the information is correct and if there are no missing documents, processing, etc.)
This leads to an overload of work and file processing times that are very long.

• Without forgetting the frauds which are very expensive each year for the insurance companies because of the processing and verification processes which are very complex and the lack of automated tools


And then there was the Covid which gave a big boost to the need for digitalization of processes in various fields, in particular that of insurance.

Indeed during the Covid, patients could not submit their files physically and we saw a "pseudo-digitalization" appear with certain insurance companies which authorized their policyholders to send them their scanned files by email.

But hey, this posed problems in terms of protecting personal data and patient health data and this greatly increased the risk of fraud.


This is why, with the Mediclic team, we have set up APIs that communicate between our platform and those of the insurance companies.
This allows us to send informations from electronic care sheets in an encrypted and secure way from one server to another and to convert the rules for processing insurance care sheets into calculation algorithms.
